
The Kikusui Kai Aikido group was formed by Yamada Sensei in 1959. The first of his students to be graded to Shodan was John Waite in 1960.
Since then the group has grownthroughout world with Aikido clubs London and South West of England, Auckland, New Zealand and and also Japan.
For over 40 years John Waite has taught the Tomiki system of Aikido in the UK and has helped to produce some of the UK finest Aikidoka.
In 2002 he retired to New Zealand where he set up not one but three clubs in Auckland.
In 2011 he was awarded his 8th Dan by the Japan Aikido Association.
